DR. ERNEST HARTZOG - ORABSE FOUNDER’S SCHOLARSHIP
​
Dr. Ernest Hartzog is a life-long learner who advocated for students of all ages for over 60 years. His career in education included his position as an Assistant Superintendent in Portland Public Schools from 1972 to 1992. He served as president of the National Alliance of Black School Educators from 1979-1981. Hartzog also established the local affiliate of NABSE in Oregon, the Oregon Alliance of Black School Educators (OABSE). Dr. Hartzog was our first President and is still an active ORABSE Board member.
The ORABSE FOUNDER’S SCHOLARSHIP Fund awards one student a 4-year scholarship up to $35,000 per year. We also award two highschool students and two college students scholarships.
​DR. HARTZOG FOUNDER'S SCHOLARSHIP - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduating high school seniors must have a 2.5+ GPA. College students must have satisfactory academic status.
