BE LIFTED UP
The Oregon Alliance of Black School Educators (ORABSE) is the only organization in Oregon that focuses on supporting and serving Black educators by providing professional development, curriculum support, advocacy leadership conferences, career support, affinity-based gatherings, and networking events.

Who We Are
Our members include retired and current educators from pre-K through 12th grade, including teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, counselors, and education assistants, as well as aspiring educators. We also welcome postsecondary professors and professionals from community-based nonprofits that serve Black students, along with other professionals who are directly or indirectly involved in advancing the education of Black students and supporting Black educators.

oregon needs
more black educators
Black teachers strengthen Oregon’s schools. Research shows that when students of color have teachers who share their cultural background, they achieve higher academically, attend school more regularly, and are more likely to graduate and pursue college.
Black teachers also help create safer, more inclusive school environments for all students. Yet many leave the profession due to systemic barriers, overwork, and lack of support. Oregon needs to not only recruit Black educators—but ensure they can thrive.
When Black teachers are valued and retained, every student benefits from richer learning, stronger school communities, and educators who inspire excellence.
