About the Event
As part of our Black History Month Celebration, ORABSE is hosting a screening of the Film, "Let the Little Light Shine," directed by Kevin Shaw.
If you grew up in the Black Church as so many of us did, you may have heard the saying, “Don’t hide your light under a bushel.” There was a song that children learned….”This little light of mine; I’m going to let it shine.” Well…ORABSE member who attended the 50th National Alliance of Black School Educators conference in late November witnessed a powerful rendering of the song and how it illuminated determination to unite a school community of educators, children, their families, and their neighborhoods. Faced with the disruption of their education by a city decree to shut down their school which was declared sub-par. Upon investigation, it was determined that the newly re-gentrified neighborhood was prepared to re-open the school as an education center for their children. Outraged, the community organized and decided to fight the closing of their dearly loved space.

Refreshments will be served at 5:30, and the screening will begin at 6PM, followed by a Q&A.
